Oh deer

Well, that sucked.

On my way home from the office on a dark and rainy road, a deer tried to hurdle my car. It didn’t make it. Instead 200 lbs of deer landed on my windshield and hood as I was driving about 30 mph. I was able to move the car off the road into the parking lot of a volunteer fire station. After my hands stopped shaking, I called the insurance company and arranged a tow to a nearby garage. Then I called my wife and asked her to come pick me up.

Needless to say, I had to give up my running class and thoughts of doing another 5k.

Finally got my car back and it looks pretty good. It feels like some of the stuffing is missing from the driver’s seat but it’s livable. Mostly I was concerned with how the car runs which it seems to do just as well as before.

Even though it wasn’t a huge accident I’ve noticed that my back is worse than it was before. Just a little, but it’s noticeable.
